CONFIDENTIAL
INFORMATION
An
overview of Confidential Information
Organisations'
key information should be kept confidential until such time as
it is adequately protected.
Non-confidential
disclosure can be reduced by:
(a)
relatively simple internal "housekeeping" rules and
discipline;
and
(b)
the use of Confidentiality Agreements where appropriate.
But,
organisations should beware "casual" visitors accessing
research areas and ensure that security arrangements for safeguarding
key information are appropriate. With this in mind it is essential
that regular checks are carried out of the obligations placed
on your organisation by third parties in this regard.
In
summary, always consider confidentiality before publishing information
and/or starting discussions with third parties on collaborative
projects or contract research.
