Patent Drawings
In the United States, black-and-white schematic line drawings are required with all patent applications — the only exceptions being applications for compositions of matter or for processes. In Europe, drawings are required when necessary for the understanding of the invention — which means proper schematic drawings are almost always required.
As with many other aspects of the patent process, it is important to submit correct, detailed patent drawings in the proper format to avoid potential delays, objections and extra costs. Murgitroyd & Company attorneys have a complete understanding of the drawing regulations for every jurisdiction in which we practice. As part of our service to all of your IP needs, we can assist you, through our in-house Illustration Service, in creating acceptable drawings to speed up the patent application process.
