Edward Murgitroyd, son of founder Ian Murgitroyd, Executive Chairman of the Group, is a Glasgow University graduate in Mechanical Engineering. He is a UK and European Patent Attorney, Registered Irish Patent Agent and Community Trade Mark & Design Attorney, and sits on the Risk Assessment Committee. He is "Director, Group Operations" with Murgitroyd Group PLC's principal subsidiary, Murgitroyd & Company Limited, which he joined from university in 1997 with responsibility for strategic IT development and implementation, Internal Control/Audit (including the ISO:9001:2000 quality management system, and risk management), management and strategic development of the group's "home workers", and marketing. He is a member of Murgitroyd & Company Limited's Management Board and sits on its Business Development Group with specific responsibility for US business development and promotion of "RELAY", the group's European Patent national phase formalities service.
