INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY GUIDELINES/
FOR THE NATIONAL HEALTH SERVICE/
Universities and other Higher Education Institutions (HEIs),
being involved in fundamental and applied research in a number of
disciplines, generate numerous innovative ideas which may have significant
commercial applications.
These
ideas may prove to be important assets both of the institutions in
which they are developed and of individual staff who work on them.
This
manual is intended to assist in the effective management of such assets,
whether the assets are developed by the HEI alone or in association
with other research groups or with funding authorities or with commercial
companies. It provides guidelines for the identification of Intellectual
Property Rights (IPR) and is intended to indicate situations in which
professional advice in the management of IPR may be required.
